The Puri Group of Industries organized a farmer focussed mega-event on the 23rd April'2003 at Karnal. The Event was aimed at uniting the dairy farmer , research scientist, cattle feed manufacturer and the dairy industries towards a common objective - Enhance milk productivity and dissemination of the benefits of the cattle feed and its value added products. An overwhelming congregation of 1200 farmers from Punjab and Haryana along with and accomplished panel of dairy scientists from the world renowned National Dairy Research Institute , Karnal made the event unique and provide a platform form interactive session between participants.

The Event titled "Farmers , Scientists & Industry interaction on Nutrition & Value Addition of Cattle Feed" was held in N.D.R.I auditorium situated in the prestigious institute and was supported by Nestle India Limited , a global conglomerate in the area of dairy processing . The Puri group has been actively associated with Nestle for the last 12 years and has been supplying quality cattle feed to thousands of dairy farmers through Nestle appointed and managed mail collection centers all over Punjab and Haryana.

Mr. V. K Joshi , Factory manager -Nestle India Limited , Samalkha , a champion in the field of dairy processing enlightened the audiences about co-operative model pioneered by Dr. Verghese Kurien and today being successfully implemented by various dairy industries all over the country. Mr. Joshi along with Dr. Mudgal, Sr. Scientist N.D.R.I was the guest of honour for the event. Dr. Nagendra Sharma , Director N.D.R.I presided over the proceedings and his key note address emphasized on the urgent need of improving extension services to dairy farmers in order to make meaningful application of research being undertaken at various universities. He also applauded the efforts of the Puri Group of Industries in organizing the event on a scale which surpassed all the expectations.

Beside various technical sessions , a colorful cultural program was also organized to entertain the huge farming community which had gathered to make the event a grand success ! Mr. Vivek Puri , Managing Director -Puri Oil Mills Ltd. made an eloquent presentation on the group's clearly defined objectives of developing and nurturing backward linkage with farmers and serving the entire community with value added products and services on a regular basis.

All in all , the event was a first step towards instilling confidence in dairy farmer that his efforts towards increasing milk production shall be encouraged and supported by the group, and such interactive meets shall be organized periodically.
