Laughter is the best medicine. Laughter is also a powerful mood-changer. And laughter – when used intelligently – can also be a highly effective marketing tool.
The last aspect mentioned above can be seen in the latest series of ads from P Mark Mustard Oil featuring the brilliant and extremely versatile character actor, Boman Irani. The campaign has four Boman Iranis. That’s right – four! As an actor well versed in the art of taking on the quirkiest of personas, this campaign has Boman as a smug chef – high on confidence but low on competence; a boxing coach who seems unable to separate the fighter from the trainer; a translator who haplessly bungles his way through a crucial business meeting; and, of course, Boman Irani the suave brand ambassador for P Mark Mustard Oil – a role which he has been excelling in for more than half a decade.
In case you haven’t seen the ads on television yet, you can catch them online, right here:
But there’s another hidden comedic touch that you may have missed while watching one of the ads. Do you know who the boxer in the Boxing Coach ad is? It’s Jesse Lever – son of the legendary Bollywood comedian Johny Lever! Go and watch the ad again – the resemblance is unmistakeable.
