When your nose, throat or chest gets blocked, it’s a really uncomfortable and disconcerting feeling. It leaves you feeling really miserable to say the least. Thankfully, you don’t always need to turn to strong medicines and histamines. You can try a diverse range of home remedies that use cold-pressed Mustard Oil as an active ingredient mainly because of the anti-inflammatory and infection-fighting properties of this amazing oil.

A simple home remedy for throat and chest congestion is to inhale hot steam infused with Mustard Oil. Such inhalation also provides relief from respiratory allergies and dispels the stuffiness caused by coughs and colds. Another tried and tested home remedy that has been used in India since ancient times is to take a daily dose of a mixture that combines one teaspoon of cold-pressed Mustard Oil with one teaspoon of honey. The honey gently balances the sharpness of the Mustard Oil while the oil alleviates and eases respiratory problems by preventing the formation of excess phlegm in the throat and chest.

Specialists in the ancient Indian healing system of Ayurveda say that the simple act of massaging the chest with cold-pressed Mustard Oil during an asthma attack can improve airflow to the lungs and make it easier to breathe. This type of massage can also provide relief from the discomfiture caused by sinusitis.

If you find yourself frequently down with a sore throat and chest pains caused by congestion, here is another effective home remedy that may help you. In a pan take one tablespoon of coarsely ground mustard seeds; the juice of half a lemon; one tablespoon of cold-pressed Mustard Oil; one tablespoon of honey; and a tablespoon of salt. Boil around 250 millilitres of water and add it to the pan. Mix well, and then cover the pan and keep it aside for around 10 minutes.

When the mixture has cooled down sufficiently, gargle with it. Make sure you take the mixture right down to your throat cavity (as far as you comfortably can) for best results.

So don’t let a blocked nose, a sore throat or a congested chest keep you in agony. Fight back – with the power of Mustard Oil.
