Yes, Pickles are Healthy!

Some folks refer to pickles as a “sinful pleasure” – almost as though they are supposed to be bad for you but you can’t help indulging in them anyway. The notion is wrong. On the contrary, pickles can be a healthy supplement to your meals.

The health benefits stem mainly from the pickling agent – cold-pressed Mustard Oil, which has completely natural preservative properties. No chemical preservatives, extenders or emulsifiers are needed. This in itself is a significant benefit.

Cold-pressed Mustard Oil has very powerful antibacterial, antimicrobial and antifungal properties. So when you pickle fruits, vegetables, nuts, etc. in Mustard Oil, the ingredients are protected from the formation of moulds and pathogens. That’s why pickles act as a preventive shield against stomach bugs, upset tummies and other gastrointestinal infections.

Mustard Oil is also a powerful appetite stimulant, enhancing the flow of digestive juices. It also stimulates the production of bile in the liver and spleen, thereby improving the overall digestive process. That’s why having a pickle on the side makes your meals more enjoyable.

Then there are the spices used in the pickling process. These are known to have strong anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. They also boost your metabolism and strengthen the immune system.

As you can see, there is nothing “sinful” about the delights offered by pickles. So go ahead – add it to your daily meals to enhance their flavour and also get a daily dose of health.
