Our Commitment on World Food Day: Supporting Flood-Hit Communities Through Ration Relief

At Puri Oil Mills, we see ourselves as more than just a company; we are part of a larger family—the communities that have trusted us for generations. This World Food Day, the belief in family feels more urgent than ever as we reflect on our families in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu facing the aftermath of devastating floods.

The images of submerged homes and lost livelihoods are heartbreaking, but what often remains unseen is the silent crisis that follows: the empty kitchen shelves, the worry over the next meal. We knew we couldn't just stand by.

Our Commitment on World Food Day: Supporting Flood-Hit Communities Through Ration Relief

Our Response: Delivering Rations

Driven by our CSR initiatives, the P Mark Mustard Oil team rolled up their sleeves and went to work. In recent weeks, we’ve had the humble privilege of:

  • Distributing 800 ration kits to flood-hit families across Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir.

  • In Himachal Pradesh, 400 ration kits were delivered across the most affected areas: 230 kits in Saraj Vidhan Sabha — covering Thunag, Murhag, Lehthach, Gunas, Savahari, Khunagi, Khawari, and Bagsaid — and 170 kits in Kullu–Mandi border villages including Shalanal, Saroya, Kuktakhad, Tanipari, Tandi, Lachh, Kuklah, Hanogi, and Thalaut.

  • In the Jammu region, an additional 400 ration kits were distributed in Halqa Sohanjana Block Mandal Phailian, Jammu and Hanso Chack and Fatehpur, RS Pura, working closely with local Sarpanches and community leaders to ensure the aid reached those most in need.

  • Each ration kit included essential staples — wheat flour, rice, lentils, salt, turmeric, chilli powder, and mustard oil — chosen to provide both nourishment and comfort.

  • Beyond food relief, our aim was to bring a sense of dignity, care, and continuity to families rebuilding their lives after the floods.

Why We Believe in This Work

For us, these relief drives are not just about distributing food. They are:

  • A gesture of gratitude to the communities that have trusted P Mark for generations.

  • A way to reaffirm that our business responsibility extends beyond the marketplace—it reaches into the very heart of people’s lives. Our Director, Tejasvini Puri, expressed it best: “Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the floods. In moments of hardship, it is our responsibility to stand with the communities we serve, offering comfort and stability through essential food support.”

On This World Food Day

As floods continue to test India’s food systems, every ration kit delivered, every family supported, contributes to bridging the gap between survival and dignity.

Today, we reaffirm: food is not a privilege — it is a right, especially when disaster strikes. And on World Food Day, we pledge to keep working, keep standing with communities, and keep building resilience — one ration kit at a time.
