The recipe in today’s post combines the tang of cheese with the spicy zing of Mustard Oil to create a mouth-watering Cheese and Potato dish that is a quick, easy-to-make snack item – ideal for that post-teatime-early-evening yearning for a quick bite.
The ingredients that you will require are:
Potatoes: 2
Onion: 1, small-sized
Tomato: 1, medium-sized
Green Chilli: 1, small
Egg: 1
P Mark Mustard Oil: 2 tablespoon
Cheese: 1 cube
Sugar: 1 teaspoon
Coriander (Dhania) Leaves, chopped: 1 teaspoon
Pepper Powder: Just a pinch
Salt: to taste
Preparation
Boil the potatoes and peel them. Cut them into neat round slices that look a bit like cookies. Finely chop the onion, the tomato and the green chilli. Grate the cheese. Break the egg and beat it well.
Method
Heat the Mustard Oil in a pan. Add the chopped onions along with the sugar and fry lightly. Then add the tomatoes and green chilli and continue frying.
Reduce the heat and place the potato slices in the pan – add the salt and pepper powder. Move the potato slices around and turn them over to ensure they get an even coating of chopped onions, tomatoes, green chilli, salt and pepper.
Carefully sprinkle the grated cheese over the potato slices making sure that the cheese is evenly distributed. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
Next, pour the beaten egg over the potato slices. Cover the pan and let the contents cook for around five minutes. Then switch the flame off and remove the pan.
Arrange the potato slices on a serving platter and serve hot. The dish can also be accompanied by dips like ketchup, mustard sauce and chilli sauce.
Quick, easy, no-fuss – and delicious!
