For thousands of years, natural cold-pressed Mustard Oil has been used for hair care in India. It is only in recent decades that scientists have explored the unique combination of nutrients in Mustard Oil that contribute towards making hair full-bodied, lustrous and healthy.

Applying Mustard Oil to your hair provides a coating for each strand of hair; this acts as a barrier against pollutants and free radicals in the air that can cause damage and deterioration. This coating also protects your hair from sun damage. Moreover, the heating properties of Mustard Oil help in opening the pores of the scalp so that the nutrients can nourish the roots and hair follicles.

In today’s post, we will describe the correct way to apply Mustard Oil to your hair. First, heat the oil so that it becomes warm (not hot). Next, comb your hair to separate the strands and remove tangles, if any.

Dip your fingertips in the warm Mustard Oil and apply it to your scalp and massage it gently. Do this for around five minutes. Next, take the Mustard Oil on the palms of both your hands. Hold several strands of hair near the roots (that is, close to your scalp) between your palms and then move your hands slowly down to the tips of the hair strands. Nourishing the tips will prevent or reduce split-ends.

When you finish with the application of the oil, tie your hair in a loose bun or a loose topknot. Cover your head with a towel and let the Mustard Oil stay for at least 30 minutes. Then wash the oil off by rinsing your hair in cold water, and then shampoo.

Do this oil application at least once a week and you will see and feel the difference. However, if your work involves being out in the harsh sun and the dusty, polluted air, you should use this treatment at least thrice in a week.
